Events of Interest 2007-2008

Gloria Dei Cantores   Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 7:30pm    1st UMC, Morristown, TN     The Fine Arts Series of First United Methodist Church, Morristown, Tennessee will present "Gloria Dei Cantores" in concert on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 7:30pm.  The concert is free and open to the public and a nursery will be provided.  The church is located at 101 East First North Street, Morristown, TN.  For further information contact Victor Thompson 423-581-2180 or vthompson@lcs.net

Church Street UMC   Sunday, October 7, 3pm   David Arcas Mr.  Arcus is organist at Duke Chapel. You can check out his playing on the Duke Chapel website where each service and concert is streamed for all to enjoy AND/OR You can hear him live at Church Street.

Church Street UMC   Sunday, October 28, 11 a.m. service   - Gabriel Fauré "Requiem"    Parish Adult Choir & orchestra.

Music Festival November 11, 3pm     Grace Lutheran Church, Oak Ridge     Grace Lutheran Church at 131 West Gettysburg Avenue in Oak Ridge is having it's Second Annual Music Festival On November 11 at 3p.m.  Music from the choirs of Oak  Valley Baptist and Kern United Methodist will be included in the  festival.  Music will be presented through choirs, praise teams and  hymn singing.  This event is free and open to the public!  Timothy Forde is the director at Oak Valley Baptist and Kevin Miller is the  director at Kern United Methodist.  For more information, Please call Paula Smith, Minister of Music at Grace Lutheran Church,  483-3787.

The Carlene Neihart International Organ Competition Foundation The Foundations 3rd competition is to be held on April 12, 2008. Please feel free to share this information with others in your area. The competition is held every two years. Articles about the competitions, held in the spring of 2004, and 2006 appeared in The Diapason and American Guild of Organists national magazines. This internationally recognized competition brings a prestigious performing arts activity to the Kansas City Area. We urge you to give thoughtful consideration to share in this opportunity for young and talented organists to pursue their dream.
